About FOME Uganda

FOME Uganda works to engage men and boys to prevent violence against women, girls, and other key populations.

Foundation for Male Engagement Uganda (FOME) was formed in 2016, and has two offices in Kasangati, Wakiso district and Mbirizi, Lwengo district.

To prevent violence perpetrated by men and boys against women and girls, FOME supports HIV/AIDS awareness, sexual and reproductive health rights, mental health, gender equality and the prevention of child and teenage pregnancies and marriages, economic empowerment of both men and women, peacebuilding, and countering violence and extremism.

We are a pro-feminist and pan-Ugandan organisation engaged in advocacy, coalition-building, community mobilisation, communications, and training on issues related to working with men and boys on gender equity.

FOME seeks to address a wide range of relevant issues – including poor health seeking behaviours, family planning and contraceptive use, fatherhood and caring, violence against women and children, and structural gender inequalities – and to explore the linkages between them.

Foundation for Male Engagement (FOME) Uganda is a company registered in Uganda with the Registrar of Companies, limited by guarantee (no. 80020001277181), since 2018 and a registred non-government organisation (registration no. INDR152974258NB and permit no. INP0004258N) with the National Bureau of Non-Government Organisations.
